Hey Mommas! It’s Monday and that means it’s time to get busy. Each week I’ll be sharing my favorite playlist to help me get as much done on Monday as possible, since it only goes downhill as the week goes on! Each Monday, I’ll also be sharing our weekend recap, my to do list for the week and my Mom Tips, little life hacks to make it look like we have it all together.
We changed the clock this weekend and baby boy didn’t get the sleep in memo. Fall back was my favorite thing about Summer ending because I could either stay out an hour later or stay in bed an hour longer. Now that I am a momma it just means I’m up before the sun with an adorable, wide eyed baby. It’s ok though, because I kinda miss JR when he’s sleeping.
Spotify Playlist: Vol. I
Tomorrow (November 8) is election day so, I have a girl power playlist ready on my Spotify page for you to listen to while getting your housework done today.
My To Do List
- Clip JR’s nails – ouch he keeps getting me
- Iron Johnny’s new dress shirts
- Wash Boo Boo’s bedding
- Deposit Johnny’s Fantasy Baseball winnings
- Clean out car and trunk
- Organize Operation Christmas Child Items
Looking pulled together is high on my priority list as a new mom. There are so many things to get done during the day and if I feel like a normal person, I seem to get more of the items ticked off my to-do list. Self-care as a mother is often overlooked – we don’t get to the gym as often as before we had our little ones, no more regular mani/pedi sessions with your girlfriends and I can’t even imagine a spa day at this point. Getting all dolled up for special events is great but, I’ve come up with a fool proof plan to look great in 5 steps.
Step 1: Take a shower each and every single day – no exceptions!! I don’t wash my hair everyday so I can be in and out before anyone even notices I’m gone. Then on Sunday afternoons I put daddy on duty and take a loooong, hot shower, with hair conditioning masks, facials, teeth whitening, eye brow plucking, and whatever else I feel like doing to make myself actually feel girly.
Step 2: Throw on a comfy maxi dress. These are my mom-must haves because it is so easy to nurse and they hide all of the little trouble zones I’m still working on.
Step 3: Pair maxi dress with a statement piece of jewelry. Either a bold necklace, fun earrings (best if you’re in the toddler zone so, baby doesn’t rip your ear off!), a stack of bracelets or even a dramatic headband. Something special that makes your everyday outfit more fashionable.
Step 4: Pull your hair off your face with an easy hair-do. The side braid is my go to and it can be modified in so many ways to add variety. Lately, I have been sectioning my hair into 3 parts, braiding each part and then creating one big bread with the three smaller braids. It is so easy and looks really intricate. I look to Missy Sue for most of my hair and braid inspiration.
Step 5: Add a smudge of lip gloss and a pair of big black sunglasses before rushing out of the house.
There you have it! My 5 steps to looking perfectly polished. Let me see you in action by has tagging your Instagram photos #momtips!
