Over the weekend, we had a wonderful time at JR’s first birthday party. Our family and friends came out to celebrate our little man with Elmo and the Sesame Street gang.
My mom, sister, dad, mother-in-law and hubby helped set everything up while I ran around and spazzed out. I was so nervous and wanted everything to be perfect – which it was and my panic was for nothing, of course.
The common room in our building was the perfect location for the party. The screening room had old school Sesame Street sing-a-longs playing while the kids were playing with a bunch of toys we brought down from JR’s collection.
The pool table was the perfect spot for the guys to hang out while the lounge area allowed everyone to sit around and chat while eating lunch.
Elmo even made a surprise appearance but, unfortunately the majority of the kids were so disturbed by the 6’2″ furry, red monster they ran screaming from the room.
This past year proved one of the most common parenting cliches to be true – the days are long but, the years are short. Some days felt like they were dragging on and one, with no end in sight but, the past year has gone by in the blink of an eye.
I can’t believe my son is such a curious, charming, funny, sweet, silly, coordinated and loving blue, eyed boy. I would try to dream and envision what my child would be like before he was born but, he is beyond anything I could have ever imagined.
Happy Birthday JR!! Mommy and Daddy love you forever and a day – MUAH xoxo
